The mid-summer drought spatial variability over Mesoamerica

چکیده
The region that includes southern Mexico and Central America is known as Mesoamerica. annual cycle of precipitation characteristic the Pacific slope this presents a bimodal distribution on summertime, with two maxima relative intraseasonal minimum, Mid-Summer Drought (MSD). In study, small-scale (tens kilometers) variability MSD analyzed. Numerical simulations are performed using regional climate model RegCM4 over Mesoamerican domain for six-year period. ERA Interim reanalysis data used initial lateral boundary conditions. subdivided into smaller areas average computed each them. pattern found to present high spatial in intensity its even total absence minimum. Such behavior attributed soil-atmosphere terrain topography interactions better resolved model.

Variability of summer precipitation over eastern China
We use measurements of recent decades, 1500-yr proxy data, and millennium model simulations with a variety of climate facings to study the temporal and spatial variability of summer precipitation over eastern China. Spectral analysis of the proxy data using multi-taper method reveals three statistically significant bidecadal (15–35-yr), 5 pendadecadal (40–60-yr), and centennial (65–170-yr) osci...
متن کاملEarly Summer Rains and Their Mid-Summer Cessation Over the Caribbean: Dynamics, Predictability, and Applications
of a dissertation at the University of Miami. Dissertation supervised by Professor Brian Mapes. No. of pages in text. (103) The annual rainfall cycle in the Caribbean is characterized by a bimodal pattern with peaks in the late spring (“early rainfall season”) and late summer (“late rainfall season”) with a mid-summer minimum (“mid-summer drought”). The time average rainfall pattern during the ...
متن کاملDynamics of Interannual Variability in Summer Precipitation over East Asia*
The summertime mei-yu–baiu rainband over East Asia displays considerable interannual variability. A singular value decomposition (SVD) analysis for interannual variability reveals that precipitation anomalies over the mei-yu–baiu region are accompanied by in situ anomalies of midtropospheric horizontal temperature advection. Anomalous warm (cool) advection causes increased (decreased) mei-yu–ba...
متن کاملTropical climate influences on drought variability over Java, Indonesia
[1] We investigate relationships between Indonesian drought, the state of the equatorial Indian Ocean, and ENSO using three instrumental indices spanning 1884– 1997 A.D.: 1. EQWIN, a zonal wind index for the equatorial Indian Ocean; 2. the Dipole Mode Index (DMI), an indicator of the Indian Ocean SST gradient; and 3. tropical Pacific Niño-3.4 SSTs. A regression model of the Java Sep–Dec Palmer ...
متن کاملAerosol Optical Depth Spatial and Temporal Variability Using Satellite Data Over Indian Major Cities
Introduction: The study’s main aim is to investigate the long-term variation of Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD). It also aims to show the relationship between meteorological parameters. This study evaluates long-term (2010 to 2021) special and temporal changes over major Indian regions using satellite-based data from NASA’s Terra Satellite. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out during ...
